NORD’s
obsession with utility spaces, washrooms and Victorian Bathhouses, led to
the creation of Skiddle.
Skiddle [an old Scots word meaning ‘to footer in a watery setting’]
started out its life as a Victorian Sink. However, NORD have resurrected and
customised this piece to create a communal dual-purpose gents urinal and wash-hand
basin.
Skiddle negates the requirement for gents to move from the urinal to a wash-hand
basin, as this is an integral part of the design. Water used to wash hands,
flows into the urinal therefore utilising the grey water as a flushing mechanism
after every use. In addition to the hygienic benefits, combining urinal and
hand washing within one system saves on space and water consumption.
The circular profile of Skiddle creates a six-person cluster and encourages
the notion of a true conversation piece.
